Did you have a child this year? CELEBRATE!
We’d like to plant five fruit trees for your child to mark the start of their life on Planet Earth. We invite you to join the planting day! If you live in the Hilltop District of Pittsburgh, in Pittsburgh, or in Allegheny County, PA - these trees are for you! This May 4th, 2019 join us at the Hilltop Urban Farm to plant them. These trees will contribute to the largest urban farm in the country and comprise the largest fruit tree orchard in Pittsburgh at 200 fruit trees.
When will the trees be planted? On May 4th, 2019, please join us for lunch and stay for a dedication ceremony and tree planting! Complimentary lunch runs from 11:30am - 1pm and the ceremony and planting in the Youth Farm will begin at 1:15pm. Local organizations will be tabling from 11am-1pm and live acoustic music on guitar (and terrapan!) will be provided by Jeremy Colbert.
This will be a great place to meet new parents with children the same age, learn about the trees and site, and pick up knowledge and resources to help you nurture your child, stay connected to and understand the outdoor environment. This is a rain or shine event, so please dress for the weather!
How does it work? Just fill out the below with some basic information and on May 4th join us at the farm! We will be in touch with a friendly reminder between now and then.
This planting is a partnership between Hilltop Urban Farm, Plant Five for Life and the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation with generous support from Colcom Foundation, Arbor Day Foundation, Target and the Three Rivers Community Foundation.
